Fortnite X Marvel Zero War 2 Comic Review

The collaboration between the Fortnite and Marvel heroes continues in the second notebook, which faithfully replicates/complements the previous one both technically and artistically. If last time I complained about a slow start, this time there is more or less a battle on every page, in part because the heroes of Zero War are divided into groups on several different battlefields. In terms of entertainment, there has been an improvement, but the plot still lacks strong moments, and the digital code of the game this time can also disappoint anyone.

Battles and announcements

The plot of this notebook is not easy to write about, as it really is a more or less continuous sequence of battles – just look at the samples attached here. Of course, this wouldn’t be a classic Marvel comic if even in the midst of the wildest battle, the heroes didn’t find a place to more or less argue, fight and joke. Thus, the heroes of Fortnite compete with the heroes of Marvel, while comparing not only their abilities, but also, for example, equipment or combat experience. Sometimes it’s pretty funny, sometimes it’s just a cliché.

The battlefields themselves have something of their own – in the jungles of Wakanda, we encounter dinosaurs, some of which are straddled by Fortnite’s “ninja lizards”. We will also get to the promised “icy moon” over the island from Fortnite, where a huge mech robot, well known to the players, turned out to be. If this were a movie or a game adaptation, some of the battles could be pretty exciting. Unfortunately, on the pages of the comic book, the action itself does not seem as bright as we would like. As a result, the second episode of the story, I also left a little disappointed, the bar for the crossover with Batman was really raised high.

Wrapping

Players who buy the notebook because of the included code to download the Fortnite skin will probably not be thrilled either. This time, they will only get the “wrapping paper” (wrapper) of the Iron Man color/texture. Of course, for rock fans, the option to paint all your weapons and vehicles in the style of your favorite hero can be very tempting. Personally, I’d rather skin one of the many Marvel characters that appear in this notebook, be it Thor, Captain Marvel, or Wolverine.

It’s still true that the comic is an interesting development and explanation of many aspects of a video game’s history, and as such, I certainly applaud it. It is impossible to refuse high-quality technical and artistic processing. But I’m still waiting for some “moment” that would surprise me and awaken some emotions. The already mentioned crossover with DC had several of them, approximately one in each laptop. So let’s see if we see it here too.

The third part will not have to wait long, because it comes out tomorrow, Wednesday, August 17th.
