Friday night saw the official announcement of the remake of the first Alone in the Dark, which followed shortly after the leak from the Belgian store. In addition to the first details and screenshots, we also received a trailer containing gameplay snippets. However, shortly after, a Spanish YouTuber from the Hobby Consolas channel posted a much more complete demo of the pre-alpha gameplay, as he had already seen the game in action.
In the video, he repeated information that you can find in previous articles, but emphasized, for example, the fact that the title should be similar in structure to Resident Evil 2. Both playable characters (Edward and Emily) have their own campaign, and to find out the whole story, we have to play both . At the same time, thanks to the video, we learned that the game is being developed on Unreal Engine 4.
However, by far the most interesting information is that a playable demo called Grace in the Dark will be available at Gamescom in less than two weeks. It is said to be made in the style of Kitchen (RE7) or Maiden (RE8), so it will be a kind of prologue that will not be part of the full game. And if you’re not in Cologne, don’t worry, the demo will be released digitally to all players soon after.
Alone in the Dark is out on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. We don’t know a release date yet, but given the upcoming playable demo, we might wait until next year.
