Valorant patch 5.03 finally nerfs the French sentinel, the camera, and also changes Neon and Jett’s ultimate abilities. Riot Games’ flagship FPS will now also run on Unreal Engine 4.26, making it smoother than ever.

Players asked, and it came: Valorant’s bedroom is finally Be nervous. After an insane pick at the Valorant Champions Tour Masters in Copenhagen, Riot turned on the brash sniper, taking away several positions to end his dominance.

The evil Filipina Neon also takes an arrow to her proverbial knee, but her changes aren’t as devastating as they seem on paper. Players will need to focus on hitting heads with their Ultimate instead of just zooming in and hoping for the best, as their headshot multiplier has been significantly improved.

Finally, Riot also updated the game engine to Unreal 4.26 to improve the experience and made some changes to the operator selection screen.

Valorant Patch 5.03 Camera Nerfs (Finally)

Chamber has become one of Valorant’s most controversial agents. Despite being a Guardian (an agent whose role is primarily to block trap sites), he has become a one-man army with his impressive arsenal of weapons.

The main changes affected his Rendezvous teleporter. Its cooldown for use and recovery has been increased by 10 seconds, and if another player destroys this shiny golden anchor, they will have to wait 45 seconds to place a new one. It must also be much closer to him: 15m to be exact, instead of 21m.

Mark has also been affected, with his slow reduced from 9.5 to 6 seconds, and his bounty hunter bullets now cost 150 credits from 100.

Finally, his ultimate now costs 8 points instead of 7, and his slow is reduced to 6 seconds. If you also miss the enemy’s head and hit the leg, the damage multiplier is now 0.85 instead of 1.

While these changes seem pretty big, Riot remains confident that Chamber’s nerfs aren’t excessive. We’ll have to see where it ends up on the Valorant tier list after 5.03, but I sincerely hope it’s at least Tier B.

GENERAL UPDATES

  • Engine update to Unreal Engine 4.26
    • This update improves the toolset available to our developers in many ways, but this change can go unnoticed because the goal of any engine update is to go unnoticed.
    • However, this time there are some known issues, mainly the UI not working properly. We’re fixing them as fast as we can, but expect some quirks in-game and in the main menu. If something breaks your game, please file a bug report.
  • Agent browser visual design update

CAMERA

  • Base cooldown increased from 20 to 30 seconds.
  • Recovery cooldown increased from 20s >>> 30s.
  • The cooldown is set to 45 seconds each time an encounter anchor is destroyed.
  • The diameter of the “ring” chamber can remain upright, allowing it to activate Rendezvous, reduced from 21m >>> 15m.

Trademark (C)

  • Slow duration reduced from 9.5 >>> 6s.

Feat of Strength (X)

  • Required endpoints increased from 7 >>> 8
  • Slow duration reduced from 9.5 >>> 6s.

Bounty Hunter (A)

  • Bullet cost increased from 100 to 150.

REGIONAL SKILL DAMAGE DISTRIBUTION

We’re updating ults for the next operator to match our regional weapon damage rules, where hits to the enemy’s head and legs deal different damage multipliers. The goal is to reward accuracy and create an intuitive damage consistency in Valorant.

By Neon in particular, it also gives us more customization power to balance between different skill levels. This change should also add depth to the ability needed to follow during the sprint his ultimate requires.

  • Added the ability to change ghost key binding outside of custom games.
    • This setting is located in Settings >> Management >> Actions.

THE MISTAKES

officers

  • problem solved with downwind jetta where switching weapons in the middle of a run can cause the weapon draw animation to take longer than desired.

game systems

  • Fixed an issue that caused some elements of the Reyna/Killjoy HUD to remain visible after enabling the “Hide UI” feature.
  • Fixed an issue where the disarm animation would not play continuously if the orb was pressed in quick succession.

KNOWN ISSUES

  • Changing the reticle opacity setting in-game causes the visual preview of the reticle to flicker.
  • Spike Ads UI not displaying correctly
