It’s always amazing to see an amazing Minecraft build. Minecraft isn’t a game about inheriting weird shape-shifting weapons and having to attack evil refrigerators, but it makes for a very simplistic depiction of Control. It’s also a very useful comparison, because today we’re going to take a look at this awesome Control-inspired Minecraft build.
Ominous_Hippopotamus on Reddit, who happens to be the owner of our all-time favorite pen, posted a video of the hardcore base they were working on, inspired by the brutal beauty of Control’s The Oldest House. The Oldest House is an extremely strange place, filled to the brim with strange trinkets, weapons, and creatures from other worlds. The whole place is best described as haunting, and the Sinister Hippo video posted at his base captures that perfectly.
Although we only have a brief description of this base, it appears to be very accurate. An open atrium with hospitable greenery welcomes the player from the start, but after turning a corner, the video reveals an eerie geometry that juts out and distorts the space itself.
It’s just a stellar recreation of the area, and while Hiss is unlikely to float around and wreak havoc, it’s another solid reminder of the care and love that goes into so many builds you see in Minecraft. Obviously a lot of time and effort has gone into its accuracy, and the lighting is particularly fascinating.
It’s the same attention to detail that drives players to create things like the Redstone Ghostbusters theme song or create a data pack so you can play with Breath of the Wild abilities. It may be the same love that makes people turn bees into Steves, but we’re not sure.
