Call of Duty: Warzone Verdansk has been removed from Battle Royale 2021, but now, ahead of the release of Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2, players are campaigning for its return with a petition that has garnered thousands of signatures.
On December 8, 2021, Warzone players battled it out in Verdansk for the last time when the Eastern Europe map, styled similar to PUBG’s Erangel, was replaced by Caldera, which itself was recently updated as part of Warzone season 4. Caldera has upset some Call of Duty fans because he is based on the 2021 Vanguard and comes with WWII era instead of modern weaponry. However, as we get closer to the Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer beta and await more details on Warzone 2’s release date, some members of the CoD community advocated for the reintroduction of Verdansk, created the hashtag #BringBackVerdansk and even they found support. of an American music producer. and Fortnite co-creator Marshmello.
And now an online petition is gaining momentum, which at the time of this writing has garnered the signatures of over 14,000 Call of Duty players who want to see Verdansk return.
“We, the players and the community, want options, not [sic] being forced to play a particular map or mode,” read a statement accompanying the Change.org petition. “Many of us love Modern Warfare and enjoy playing with modern weapons. We are a large group that hates the weapons of World War II. We’re not asking you to destroy Caldera. We only ask that you give us options. Give us back Verdansk and modern weapons. Many of us think of giving up and waiting [sic] MW2 coming out in 2022. We don’t want that. Dear Blizzard Activision [sic]Please respect and appreciate the great support you receive from us. Listen to our wishes and don’t force us to play a game we don’t like.”
Whether Verdansk will do one last farewell tour before the end of Warzone or possibly in Warzone 2 remains to be seen, but it’s clear that a dedicated section of the CoD fanbase is itching to bring him back. However, as Warzone wraps up, we eagerly await the Modern Warfare 2 release date and the new DMZ mode that was recently leaked thanks to NFL players.
