A release date for Hogwarts Legacy is currently unknown, but more gameplay footage of the highly anticipated Harry Potter Portkey game is leaking. A new video shows the entrance to the Hufflepuff common room, and the community is absolutely obsessed with its adherence to tradition.
Hogwarts Legacy is one of the best PC games of 2022, breathing new life into the Harry Potter video game universe and delving into the history of the Wizarding World.
Known for his attention to detail, pleasing the larger Harry Potter community can be quite a challenge, but a behind-the-scenes video showing Hogwarts Legacy’s Hufflepuff common room has impressed fans with its fidelity to the novels.
Fair and loyal, unfortunately, Hufflepuffs are often overlooked by Gryffindors or Slytherins (with the exception of Newt Scamander, the poster boy from Fantastic Beasts). Not anymore though, as a new development video shows the entrance to their common room and fans are loving it.
On the game’s official subreddit, we see a beefy college student walking up to a door and tapping on the beat. The first two hits are slow, followed by three faster ones. It stands for Helga Hufflepuff (hel-ga-huff-the-puff) and perfectly matches the original input method described in the books.
“THE GUY IS IN THE DETAILS,” comments an enthusiastic fan. “The fact that they’re actually tapping to the beat of Helga Hufflepuff…I’m so glad they’re getting those little details,” echoed another response, reading, “You love to see that!”
A Ravenclaw was quick to ask about the entrance to his own sitting room, especially since it “presents a new intellectual or philosophical challenge every time someone knocks.” Writing, “I wonder if this means they’ll have a user-friendly entrance to the Ravenclaw common room?” they concluded, “I’m interested to see if they can implement this in a game-friendly way.”
