Apex Legends revamps ultimate abilities with Vantage’s sniper brand

We think it’s fair to say that Apex Legends is one of the best battle royale games on the market right now, and Respawn Entertainment’s upcoming Season 14 update proves it. This free-to-play shooter continues to go from strength to strength, and it’s clear the development team isn’t afraid to shake up the meta – and our Apex Legends tier list – with a few changes we’ll see in the next chapter. Set of Apex Legends patch notes. However, what particularly excites us for the future of this FPS game is that Vantage’s ultimate ability, Sniper’s Mark, is unlike anything we’ve seen before.

During an Apex Legends Season 14 press event, Chris Winder, lead designer and engineer of Vantage, explained how this character’s ultimate ability will be different from others in a way that no one is sure. was waiting.

“Its ultimate power is unique from other ultimate abilities in that you don’t have to wait for the battery to be fully charged to use it,” Winder explains. “Sleeves [in her unique sniper rifle] – up to five rounds – and you can take it out whenever you want as long as you have ammo.

This rather unique feature means Vantage’s Ultimate Sniper’s Mark is the first in Apex Legends history to be used with (almost) any loadout state. It doesn’t have to be 100% like Bangalore’s Rolling Thunder or Octane’s Launch Pad, and it seems to open up countless possibilities for even more diverse abilities in the future.

If you’re worried that this feature might overwhelm the Vantage a bit, don’t worry. When using Sniper Mark, his sniper rifle only deals 50 damage to an unmarked target and 100 damage to a marked target. By comparison, a body shot from Kraber currently deals around 145 damage, according to Winder. Combine that with the fact that the Vantage Grille still has to fire should keep it from getting too unstable.

However, this ultimate ability puts a new emphasis on Ultimate Accelerant for Vantage players as it is basically ammo for a sniper rifle. It also raises questions about how the weapon meta will change. If Vantage becomes popular enough, we could see a big drop in players wielding weapons like Sentinel, Triple Take, and Longbow DMR in-game. After all, why carry a sniper rifle with you when you have a sniper rifle in the game? hand, right? You’ll need at least some sniper ammo after Apex Legends Season 14’s weapon changes replace the “easy to use” Wingman.

We still don’t know how quickly the Vantage’s ultimate will recharge without an Ultimate Accelerant boost, and there’s no telling if Sniper’s Mark actually marking enemies will have a positive effect on long-range encounters.

Winder confirmed that it’s not a scan like Bloodhound’s tactical ability, so players won’t be able to see marked targets behind walls. But that doesn’t mean your team won’t help them hit them before they take cover.

For now, we’ll have to wait and see how balanced – or unbalanced – Vantage will make this ultimate ability. What we know for sure at this point is that this is a big improvement to the gameplay systems in Apex Legends that we hope the developers will continue to explore in the future.
