The Hunted Season 14 update for Apex Legends is right around the corner, and fans of Respawn Entertainment’s free-to-play shooter have a lot to look forward to. While we’re all thrilled that the Apex Legends Season 14 update is finally removing Self Revive from battle royale, we’re also thrilled that Vantage and Echo are joining Apex Games. Artur, Bloodhound’s crow and Ash’s rat, Echo, is the first living companion to become part of a legend’s gear. While this raises questions about how players can counter Echo, don’t worry if you’re a fan – Respawn Entertainment has confirmed there’s no way to harm him.
Vantage Lead Designer and Engineer Chris Winder discussed Vantage’s abilities with the press during a virtual panel in Apex Legends’ Season 14 update, making it clear there’s nothing players can do to harm Echo unless you also kill Vantage.
“I can absolutely confirm,” he began when answering a question about players’ ability to shoot or kill Echo in-game. is just too cute.”
This is of course great news for anyone who is a fan of Vantage’s adorable little pet. However, if there’s no way to rein in Echo, it raises questions about how players can counter Vantage’s tactical ability, Echo Relocation.
It’s something Winder pointed out, but it’s not exactly what we imagine fans are hoping to hear.
Winder explained how Echo Relocation works: “Vantage’s tactical strategy [ability] – Use an Echo – just like the movement abilities of each of our other characters. You can’t touch Pathfinder’s hook, you can’t touch Loba’s bracelet… It’s not designed to “dive into people’s heads”.
But the development team took the opposition into account when designing this unique migration method.
“One thing that we’ve definitely learned over time, and definitely baked into the talent of Vantage, is you have to know when these things are happening, you have to know when they’re going to happen,” Winder said. “So you can see Echo in the world, [something] it will give you some context as to where Vantage can jump at any time.” Plus, “When the Vantage starts to activate, you’ll be able to hear it – the Echo even makes noise.”
Although Winder confirms that players can damage and kill Vantage while in the air, they won’t be able to hit Echo, which is probably a good thing. The only real way to counter this ability seems to be to be alert and aware of what’s going on around you.
We don’t know if Echo is enough to make Apex Legends the best battle royale game out there, but it’s definitely one of the best available right now, and the Season 14 update proves it. . We don’t yet know where Vantage will appear on our Apex Legends tier list, but the Apex Legends Kings Canyon rework should shake up the meta, according to the developers. So we’ll have to wait and see.
