Far Cry 6 Free Weekend has started and you can join and play the open world FPS game for free until August 7th. If you haven’t had a chance to join the guerrilla resistance on the Caribbean island of Yara yet, you can free up time in your weekend schedule (and hard drive space) and immerse yourself in it.
The full game is available during the weekend free trial period. On PC, you can connect through the Epic Games Store or Ubisoft Connect. You play as Dani, a forced recruit of the Yaran resistance movement who strives to undermine and ultimately topple the small country’s brutal dictator, Anton Castillo, played by Giancarlo Esposito, with the discreet threat of him.
Far Cry 6 introduces several new concepts to the familiar Far Cry formula. The various enemies you’ll face in the Yara are strong and weak against different ammo types, so you’ll need to collect special Far Cry 6 gear for each mission you complete. If all else fails, you can always pull out one of Far Cry 6’s supreme or resolve packs, which are crafted weapons capable of firing a volley of missiles or a deadly harpoon.
Here is the announcement trailer:
Associate Editor Jordan found Far Cry 6 to be a mixed bag. In our Far Cry 6 review, he says the island is fun to explore, but the new strong and weak ammo system is a bit cumbersome and seems unnecessary.
If you want to continue playing after the free weekend, all versions of Far Cry 6 on PC are 60% off on the Ubisoft Store and the Epic Games Store. The Season Pass and all three DLCs released so far are also on sale for 50% off.
