Valorant Neon nerf patch 5.03 is a nightmare for its fans

Valorant patch 5.01 was the last major update to Riot’s flagship FPS, while patch 5.02 was skipped to update the game’s engine. However, patch 5.03 is expected to change the way Neon players approach skirmishes.

For many, patch 5.03 is an absolute blessing. As Riot finally weakens Chamber’s one-man army after his incredible Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) pick, we may finally see the Frenchman move down the Valorant tier list.

Scheduled for release on August 9, patch 5.03 also appears to bring some big changes to the fan-favorite Filipino Duelist and Neon, as well as nerfing their partner Jett.

While Neon’s changes are a bit more consistent (there are buffs too, don’t worry), they will completely change how players use their Ultimate Overdrive, which has been touted as one of the most powerful features in the game since its inception. launch. release. .

The current PBE patch notes (obtained via the ValorantPBE subreddit) state that Neon’s latest will receive some changes to “regional damage” – the damage specific body parts take when the ability is hit.

Chamber and Jett’s ults will now deal less damage to other Operators’ legs, but Neon’s Overdrive has received a major overhaul. His lightning damage has been reduced along with his leg damage to players, but his headshot multiplier has been increased to 3 and his hit area has been increased to 20m, meaning he can shoot you from far.

These changes are being made to help “encourage accuracy,” particularly in the case of Neon, where headshots are now highly recommended.

Official changes:

  • Damage per shot reduced from 22 to 18.
  • The affected area has been increased from 15m to 20m.
  • Reduced leg shot multiplier from 1.0 to 0.85.
  • Headshot multiplier increased from 1 to 3.

While this is a bit disappointing for more casual Neon players who managed to get easy kills with her ultimate, it adds an extra dimension to her team that’s perfect for experienced players. Also, a headshot is essentially an instant kill, meaning you won’t feel uncomfortable shooting beams at an enemy while trying to retaliate.

If you’re moving around the map in Valorant patch 5.03 and find that these changes hit harder than intended, be sure to use one of Valorant’s best scopes to get those instant headshots.
