Fortnite reveals crash pads, chaos probably imagined

Currently, the Fortnite vault is full of old weapons and items. While it’s always sad to see something being pushed to gather dust, the other side of the coin is the excitement players feel when something is actually brought back into Battle Royale gameplay after a while. The latest item to get this remedy is the Crash Pad, which was added to Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 3 in the latest patch.

While we’ve occasionally seen the Crash Pad feature as a regular fixture on the Fortnite map over the past few seasons, Crash Pad hasn’t been a lootable item you can carry around for long. Episode 2 vaulted into Season 5, so it’s been almost an episode since players were last able to loot them.

Not to be confused with Launch Pads or Jump Pads, Crash Pad is a deployable item that can not only blast you into the air, but also destroy any structures placed on or near it. It can also deflect missiles and grenades, and can also be thrown in freefall, giving you a map to get out of jail if you’re about to take serious fall damage.

Now that Crash Pad is no longer available in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 3, you can expect chaotic and crazy gameplay. Oh, and if you’re someone who likes to settle for certain builds, you should expect a Crash Pad to ruin your party now that it’s back in the loot pool.

Along with adding Crash Pads back, this update also brought a minor change to the Fortnite map. Part of Condo Canyon has now been taken over by Reality Bloom and will switch between different themes like other Bloom influenced POIs.
