Popularity With Us skyrocketed in 2020 for many reasons, but YouTube streamer and 100 Thieves co-owner Rachel “Valkyra” Hofstetter has been the heart of the online gaming community. Now, two years later, she has reached a milestone in the game that even Innersloot was quick to celebrate.
Imagine a world where Among Us was canceled in 2019. No souses, no cute space characters, just darkness.
The iconic board game has become one of the biggest pop subcultures of 2020, reaching the top of Twitch and YouTube as gamers try to lure and capture the impostor from their ship, not bad for a game the developers all but abandoned.
Leading the stream was Valkyrae, whose gang “Amigops” (which includes streaming giants DisguisedToast, Sykkuno, and Corpse Husband) quickly gained popularity thanks to their playful and, of course, Corpse-esque deep-voiced antics.
Two years later, Valkyrae has achieved a major milestone in the game, prompting responses and celebrations not only from other streamers, but also from the developers among us, Innersloth.
On July 30, Ray posted tweeter simply by saying “GET 500 HOURS WITH US TODAY LOL” while displaying your playtime on Steam and racking up 24.4k likes overnight.
In response, the official Twitter account of “Among Us” I have answered with a short and cute “absolute icon”, which got over 3000 likes at the time of writing.
Ray remains at the center of the Among Us universe, actively streaming it as part of his extensive roster of diverse games while also keeping it from falling off the planet’s surface (or being ejected into space as an impostor). .
This hilarious achievement shows just how interconnected the two are, and we’ll no doubt see those hours continue to grow and grow as fans tune in to watch her tear apart her fellow broadcasters, yelling “Grandma!”
