Ahead of the final chance for the VCT Champions Qualifier – the biggest event of the Valorant esports season – reigning World Champion Acend has added former Team Liquid as Travis ‘L1NK’ Mendoza to his roster.

At the end of June, Acend opted to bench Aleksander ‘zeek’ Zygmunt, one of the VCT Champions 2021 winners list, and have since been looking for a replacement. Last month, L1NK was demoted by Team Liquid after nearly two years of service to the organization, and Acend has now taken him on at the last minute before the LCQ roster is locked next week.

In an announcement video, L1NK says he is “super excited and super excited” to join the roster of reigning world champions. “Anyone who thinks they have a chance,” the British actor also says. [against Acend] I think something will happen in the next lineup.

Acend is one of eight LCQ teams for the EMEA region and only one of those teams will be featured at VCT Champions in Istanbul next month. If he wants to defend his title, he will have to face stiff competition, starting with the M3 team (formerly Gambit Esports) which he played in the Champions final last year.

Also at LCQ, longtime L1NK affiliate Team Liquid is looking for a fifth and final player for the tournament after temporarily bringing in L1NK’s first replacement, Aurimas ‘Dreamas’ Zablockis. With rosters locked today, you can expect an announcement from Liquid on who will get it.

The EMEA Last Chance Qualifier starts on August 7.
