Last year with the game Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One a new story of a brilliant detective in the world of video games began to be written. Ukrainian studio Frogwares is now coming up with an unexpected project. That’s all complete remake of Sherlock Holmes: The Awakenedadventure game originally released in 2006 for computers.
A remake is in development for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch. The creators are holding on. mystery story inspired by Howard Lovecraft, which intertwines with the story arc of a young Sherlock Holmes who takes on his first big case when he settles in London. He will be assisted by his new partner John Watson.
“A seemingly simple missing person case quickly turns into a web of conspiracy by a nefarious cult that worships the ancient god Cthulhu and seeks to fulfill an ancient prophecy. The game takes the detective duo to four locations – Victorian London, a Swiss mental hospital, the rivers of New Orleans and the Scottish Highlands – where they will attempt to separate reality from the supernatural in an attempt to stop these ghostly lunatics.” says in a press release.

The developers are remaking the whole game from scratch, it will run on Unreal Engine 4 and will use new resources or those that can be recycled from the first chapter of Sherlock Holmes. They also add completely new game mechanics, reworking the original ones to expand on the ways players will get things done. The camera should also look modern, it will be in a third-person view, which means redesigning the user interface, animations and cutscenes. Only the main story should remain intact.
Additional information and the first trailer will be published after the launch of the Kickstarter campaign. Through him, Frogwares wants to get the necessary money to complete the game. They have not yet specified how much they will ask. Previously, the project was called Project Palyanitsa. Two months ago it was said that this was an expression of the Russian opposition. Palyanitsa is a kind of Ukrainian bread and at the same time a word whose pronunciation is a big problem for Russians.
“To be honest, Polyanitsa is not the project that we originally planned as the next one, but due to the ongoing war, we had to rethink everything. It’s a bit more optimized than our recent open world games, but we’re confident we can make this game in such extreme conditions.” The Ukrainian studio explained at the end of May.
