The first Multiversus patch notes are here for version 0.1, with lots of changes and even a real person on the roster: Space Jam: A New Legacy star LeBron James. More importantly, this update is tied to the free release date of Multiversus, so the fighting game is officially available to everyone.
The 0.1 Multiversus Open Beta patch notes bring a lot of small tweaks, changes, improvements, and nerfs to the Smash Bros-type game, and it’s no wonder it’s quite a big one: the game is officially out of closed early access and has proper free access. beta now.
The most notable addition is new wrestler LeBron James, which is odd considering he’s a bona fide basketball star, though the version here is his animated Space Jam incarnation. There have been rumors about LeBron since before the Multiverse came out, but who knows where his basketball skills will go in the character roster.
Speaking of which. Multiversus’ S-tier fighters are Taz, Batman, and Shaggy, so it’s surprising that only one of them received some serious nerfs: Taz, whose powerful tornado ability took a big hit. He has reduced duration, knockback, and multi-hit, and may even get a cooldown in a future update. However, Batman has been weakened a bit as it is now a bit more difficult to use the Batarang from him.
Another important addition is that the list of free characters is cyclical, so if you haven’t unlocked them yet, Finn, Garnet, Superman, and Raindog are now free. In any case, each character can be unlocked with gold earned during the game, but it can take a while to accumulate.
Another patch is definitely coming, but now Multiversus is finally officially out for everyone. Check out PCGamesN’s impressions here, including microtransaction quality, at a whisper, really quite reasonable for a free-to-play game?
