It took a while for Blizzard’s infamous mobile game Diablo Immortal to be introduced to Chinese audiences, but now that it’s happened, players in the West are hoping to see more consistent updates.
Critics were quick to attack Blizzard for blocking significant paywall elements (a long-time Diablo guide even pulled the game’s cover art in protest), meaning the game’s China release has been delayed and, well, it’s late.
Finally, the release is on July 24, which may portend empty pockets for Chinese nephalems, but in the West, some fans think this could be the start of more significant updates more frequently, which Diablo Immortal players have asked. .
As everyone looks to the east to see what the future will bring, one fan wrote, “Diablo Immortal has launched in China. Hopefully that means more upgrades,” he goes on to explain, “More money, more incentives.
“That’s my theory,” repeated another. “They’ve been waiting a long time for a China release, so the same events are happening on all servers at the same time. But because of the delay, Blizzard had to share some stuff, so we didn’t get anything.”
Others are not convinced, they write “imao [at] more content” and “get ready for meaty skeletons in the next update”.
Aside from the obvious debate over microtransactions, players have criticized Diablo Immortal for its long wait times when trying to complete dungeons and the lack of events and rewards.
It will be interesting whether or not we see any post-launch changes in China, especially since “whaling” (spending a lot of money to upgrade characters and gear) is relatively common in Asia and will add a new source of revenue to spur development. . .
While we wait to see what the Skarn Legions are capable of, be sure to check out our best Diablo Immortal builds to stay ahead of the game.
