Some gamesball USA sells Anthem with 1 cent. Note that the price already includes taxes. This is the last scar of the BioWare game, which has been very undervalued for years but never got to this point. Paradoxically, it would be more honorable if it were given as a gift, because it would prove to be an interesting object for at least some marketing.
In fact, it’s as if the store is declaring that Anthem has no value anymore, not even a purchase receipt. The price is so low that a user could buy 37 games without blinking (after all, 41 cents total considering taxes, so we don’t think it will go bankrupt).
According to a former GameStop employee, games sell for a penny when all other attempts fail, that is, when you realize that no one really cares and you just aim to empty stores.
Note that Anthem is not that old as it was launched in early 2019. Much older games sell for much higher prices.
Anthem was BioWare and EA’s attempt to follow up after Destiny-style live services. Launched after a massive marketing campaign, gamers found that it was just a shadow of what it could be. Updates failed to revive it, and due to the lack of players, EA decided to shut it down permanently, without even giving the development team time to complete the publicly announced reboot project.
It’s worth noting that Anthem is still available for full price on the Gamestop website. Therefore, a penny-per-copy offer may only be available to some stores.
