New Gotham Knights at SDCC 2022 interviews with the superhero game’s developers reveal potential new major characters from the Batman universe, and while fans shouldn’t expect Batman himself, Batman’s wayward son could show up as Gotham Knights’ Damian Wayne. .
SDCC 2022 brings with it a new trailer for Gotham Knights Batgirl and a series of interviews highlighting various areas of the game, including which characters may or may not appear. A fan Q&A with creative director Patrick Redding confirms that the Joker won’t be in Gotham Knights and probably won’t be the Riddler either, but he can’t “verify or refute” Harley Quinn.
In another ComicBook interview, Redding again confirms that Batman is indeed dead in Gotham Knights, but seems to suggest that his son Damian Wayne may not be dead. Damian is the fourth Robin and the first three are playable in the game, but will Damian himself show up, especially since his father is gone?
When asked about Damian’s presence in Gotham Knights, Patrick Redding said, “It’s hard for me to answer this question without a major spoiler. There are reasons that will become very clear why Damian is not in the picture.”
Considering other questions were marked “no comment”, the “major spoiler” topic Damian suggests at least some involvement in the story, or possibly as a DLC character. Considering Damian’s ties to the League of Shadows/Assassins, their leader Ra’s Al Ghul is his grandfather from Gotham Knights, he could even be an antagonist.
We’ll have to wait and see, but thankfully not that long, as Gotham Knights’ release date has been pushed back to Halloween. Ironically, by trying not to talk about Harley Quinn or Damian Wayne, the director may have made fun of both.
In other Gotham Knights news, the skins in the game will be customizable and the world itself is bigger than even Batman: Arkham Knight.
