A new Doom mod has been released that basically transforms the iconic FPS game into an even more iconic Pac-Man arcade game, complete with familiar trappings like marbles and mazes, but also Portal test chambers and a Resident Evil? We love the Doom modding community.
One of the best things about the Doom community is when modders try to replicate other classic games in an archetypal FPS. In the past, we’ve seen recreations of Wario Land, Golden Axe, and even Mortal Kombat.
Now it’s Pac-Man’s turn. The goal is to defeat enemies like in Doom, while collecting flying pellets and power-ups in a maze-like environment, which Doom does very well (have you played “Hunted” from Final Doom?). The mod contains twelve maps from different creators with different themes, including levels inspired by Portal and Resident Evil. Go watch it now, you’ll see what we mean.
In other Doom news, you can now play an expanded version of Doom 64 in the style of the Doom Eternal story, and fans have recreated and remastered the lost Doom RPG.
