Roblox is working quickly to resolve a situation where many accounts were mistakenly automatically banned due to a chat moderation vulnerability. In response to the wave of automatic bans, a Roblox spokesperson issued the following statement to PCGamesN:
“Roblox is aware of this issue and is working to resolve it as soon as possible. In the meantime, we have implemented a fix to limit the impact and are removing all features that contain malicious content in accordance with our Terms of Service. We encourage our community to use our abuse reporting tools to report behavior that doesn’t meet our Community Standards, and if anyone thinks we’ve made a moderation error, we have an appeals process to review their case.”
Roblox also banned the owner of Crosswinds [A.2]which appears to have been the first game to abuse the exploit and connected accounts, Report on the RTC Twitter accountWith. He also shared rumors that the popular Roblox addon Kolya admin has been compromised, not true. However, although the official administrator Kolya seems confident, Kohl weighted to point out that malicious downloads of the plugin from unofficial sources are also rampant.
A person who claims to be involved in exploitative abuse has also to make a declaration.
“DWC will be working in the dark for a while, but we will be back. We do not disclose any information related to any of the methods we have discovered. In my opinion, ROBLOX should take note of this situation as a general red flag and as evidence of the number of exploitable flaws in their game and the stupidity and flaws of their moderation,” said Discord user Syntax 64.
Roblox users affected by the exploit should be able to recover their accounts. To do this, follow the link and fill in the required fields. In the Support Category Type section, select Moderation, then select either Account or Content Appeal. Below, describe the circumstances that led to the ban. Roblox users can prevent their accounts from being exposed to the exploit by going to the “Privacy” tab and changing the setting under “Who can contact me?” to nobody”.
Players are also encouraged to only visit verified games at this time.
