WoW Dragonflight features huge improvements to professions

Blizzard appears to be doing its best to redefine the World of Warcraft experience with the upcoming Dragonflight expansion. Along with a complete overhaul of the talent system and expanded career customization options, the in-house MMO developer is expanding and improving the profession system. In a previous article, we talked about adding an Etsy-style craft ordering system and quality ratings for various resources. However, they don’t stop there. You can check all the details on the Blizzard blog, but let’s review the best.

Workstations used to be something only certain professions had to worry about. While blacksmiths and engineers were tied to their respective workshops in each capital city, jewelers and wizards lived the good life, crafting where and when it suited them.

Not now. Most of the new Dragonflight recipes will require a dedicated Pro Workshop spread across the Dragon Isles. There will be a large mall in the capital with merchants, an auction house, and NPCs who order crafts. Fortunately for the forgetful souls who realize they only have to craft last-minute raid flasks, engineers will be able to create portable crafting tables.

As a major quality of life improvement, Blizzard will increase the build and build stack size for Dragonflight. This is intended to compensate for the volume required by the use of various quality materials. In Dragonflight, collected materials will stack up to 1000 (was 200) and crafted consumables will stack up to 200 (was 20). A new dedicated slot for reagent bags should also solve storage issues. Additionally, jewelers and those on the logging path will no longer have to manually target a reagent stack for exploration/refining, but can simply press a button in the new menu.

Profession gear is recycled, with dedicated slots for gear like fishing rods and sledgehammers – each profession has three slots, one tool, and two accessories. Attachments will grant profession bonuses and will appear visually on your character when you perform a profession action, then return when you enter combat.

Finally, there is a review: Since items can be crafted from different quality materials, you might think that in order to improve the crafted gear, you need to craft it again. The new version solves this problem by allowing you to change the additional reagent used in equipment creation and increase the quality of the item. Redesign will require crafting proficiency, which can be gained through various professional activities.
