Starfield’s first full gameplay trailer dropped back in June during Xbox Showcase, and ever since, fans have been combing through the footage for clues about Bethesda’s RPG. Now fans have taken notice of the Starfield Easter egg, which is specifically dedicated to the first man and woman in space.
Fans have already discovered several hidden Starfield Easter eggs in in-game footage, such as a possible release date hint, a sinister Dead Space-like secret, and even an infamous sandwich. People have even noticed references to actual astronauts, such as the names of certain planets.
However, fans on Reddit seem to have noticed the more direct appearance of two particularly famous astronauts around 6:39 in the game’s trailer. There are two portraits behind the person in the foreground in the photo above. These appear to be famous photographs of two cosmonauts: Yuri Gagarin, who became the first man in space in 1961, and Valentina Tereshkova, who became the first woman in space in 1963.
Directly in front of the portraits is a model of the Vostok spacecraft that the two astronauts flew into space, suggesting that the site might be in some kind of space museum. We won’t know for sure until Starfield launches in 2023, but we’re sure there are plenty more secrets hidden in the trailers and screenshots.
