Valorant Episode 5 introduced the “Pearl” map, and so far players seem to be looking for it, though there is one area of the game’s new FPS map that is proving difficult, particularly for defenders facing attack. . team that took to the heights. However, Riot says that there are currently no plans to level up as everyone is “still learning.”
During a recent AMA with Valorant devs, redditor xW4RP asked about Pearl’s “B long” site: it’s a long, wide hallway connecting Site B and Club B, with a pillar and nest in the “earth nobody’s center.
“Does the team plan to fix the geometry on the long B?” asked xW4RP. “It is like a constant game of chickens between intruders who manage to [to] take a high-angle header and any defender brave enough to hold the post or corner. Even officers like Jett have a hard time escaping an offensive attack against B Long, which doesn’t seem fair to me.”
Pearl’s level designer Joe Lansford responded by saying that the team has “no plans to change anything at this point” since Pearl’s release: players are still exploring the map and developing the best approaches for their particular design.
“Long B is a ‘bend, don’t break’ compromise,” says Lansford. “As a defender, you can get ahead and push to control [the] even headshot box. You can play column and/or corner if you have an evasion tool (camera is awesome here). Or just take the first fight [B Site]”.
“Try using a utility to slow down attackers and buy time to spin instead of checking,” he adds. “Defenders have some save options.”
