Another day, another line of Valorant skins, but the new Egyptian-inspired Sarmad skins failed to impress as Riot hoped, splitting fans down the middle with their supposedly lackluster design.
Along with the Phoenix and Yoru changes, Valorant 5.01 brings new Sarmad skins, a collection of Egyptian-themed weapons decked out in all things gold.
While Riot was clearly looking to add some grandeur to the game’s ever-expanding cosmetic arsenal, it seems these shiny goodies didn’t sit well with some players.
For every fan who loves them, there’s another who hates them, and the debate is tearing Alpha Earth apart.

Writing in their Twitter announcement that “the moving dunes have revealed something special for your collection”, judging by the responses, it seems that Riot has overestimated the real value of these new treasures.

“The big cat craze is really happening,” one fan wrote. “Everything else…” This is repeated by another player who comments: “You made a mistake. Imagine that there are grains of sand in the stores, and hieroglyphs are engraved on the trunk. And that Jade feels uncomfortable. I always buy something from ancient Egypt at the games… but not this time.
Others, however, were quick to praise the team; especially the dual melee weapon, Serket’s Blade. Inspired by the Egyptian goddess of healing and magic, these hideous knives are the lifeline of the bunch.
“Unpopular review: I really like the knife set,” one player admits, with the final response comparing them to “Kabal’s hook sword from Mortal Kombat 11.”
Whether you like them or not, the skins will be available on July 14 and will probably last a few weeks. They are available for Frenzy, Phantom, Specter, Vandal, and of course Melee.
If you want to headbutt yourself with the new Sarmad set. then you’ll want to change the default crosshair to one of Valorant’s best crosshairs. You can also use the TRN Valorant Tracker app to create a strategy for your next match.
