Strategy games, including older Company of Heroes titles, live and die long term in developing developer communities years after release. We think that Company of Heroes 3 will probably be no exception when it finally launches in November. Developer Relic is already taking active steps to give gamers the tools they need to customize the next WWII game.
While Relic hasn’t specifically talked about modding tools, lead campaign designer Sasha Narine confirms that the studio will give players “more control over their skirmishes than in the past.”
“You will have more tools to customize your games with unique gameplay features and options,” says Narrin. “So different starting conditions, randomization of artillery strikes, air strikes, paratroopers, different resource options and all of that. [else]. It will be cool. I’m glad people see it.”
Company of Heroes 3 launches with a number of “firsts” for the series, including a Total War-style campaign map for the 1943 Italy campaign, new tactical combat features, and four factions at launch.
Company of Heroes 3 release date is November 17, 2022, pre-orders are now available. If you’ve participated in previous Company of Heroes 3 alpha tests, you can try out the recently announced North Africa Campaign Alpha Mission Scenario.
This is a more traditional Company of Heroes game featuring the fourth wargaming faction, Afrika Korps. For more information on Company of Heroes 3, check out the Company of Heroes 3 Expansion Syllabi and Post-Launch Support.
