Dragami Games announced the production Lollipop Saw Remake (temporary title). Cheerleader and zombie action makeup by Suda51 and Grasshopper Manufacture, 2023. No reference platforms have been announced at this time, but in the official press release we’re talking about “current-gen high-end” hardware, so at least PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X | We assume it will come to S.

The announcement comes in celebration of the 10th anniversary of Lollipop Chainsaw, which was released for PS3 and Xbox 360 in June 2012. Some of the restructuring elements will be different from the original version. For example, the soundtrack will be enhanced with new songs (to make up for even those whose license hasn’t been renewed) and CG cutscenes will have a more realistic style using the power of existing game machines. Unfortunately, the announcement was not accompanied by a trailer or images, but with the promise that more details will emerge in the future.

Lollipop Saw

It is a company founded by Dragami Games. Yoshimi Yasuda, former CEO of Kadokawa Games and executive producer of Lollipop Chainsaw. Just last month, Yasuda announced his intention to make a remaster or remake of the game.

Dragami Games officially went live on July 1st and took over some of the commercial functions of Kadokawa Games, taking over the publishing rights to many of the company’s games and around 30 development teams.

According to Dragami Games, development of Lollipop Chainsaw Remake will be handled by a combination of staff from the original version and new staff from Dragami Games, including Yasuda as a producer.

“It’s been a while since players haven’t been able to access Lollipop Chainsaw on current consoles,” said Yasuda. “We, as Lollipop Chainsaw’s original development team, believe the game is of great value and we didn’t want to leave it in limbo where players who want to play it won’t be able to play it. Therefore, we purchased the intellectual property of Lollipop Chainsaw from Kadokawa Games and we are developing a remake. We have already contacted Warner Bros. regarding development and have been supported by them in this effort.”

Lollipop Chainsaw is an action action based on cheerleaders, zombies and extravagant style by Suda51 and Grasshopper Manufacture. The game landed on PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2012 and received generally positive, but not exciting, reviews from critics. Here is our review. Who knows, will the remake also solve some of the critical problems of the original work?
