Dragon Hunter talents in World of Warcraft are getting changes

Blizzard is mixing up World of Warcraft Dragonflight Hunter’s talents a bit. This is all part of an effort by the developers to give you more control over how your chosen class grows and plays in the upcoming MMO game expansion, and the biggest change is that this time hunters get exclusive abilities that were previously rare.

In previous expansions, abilities like Wailing Arrow and Fury of the Eagle were tied to rare weapons, usually with fairly high item levels. Dragonflight Blizzard says that these abilities and similar abilities will permanently show up in spec trees. Other specialization-specific abilities are mixed into the main tree, much like Dragonflight does with Priest talents, so you don’t have to miss out on key abilities just because you’ve chosen a different path.

Like the Priest, the Hunter now has five skill sets: their basic skills shared by all, the class talents unlocked through the main tree, and a separate tree for each of the Hunter’s three specializations.

The class’s talent tree includes many key abilities, from Kill! when your pet mauls an enemy, Pitch Trap and other abilities that enhance traps, and at higher nodes, abilities that allow you to deal nature damage.

Beast Mastery hits and misses a bit until row three, where you actually have a few beast-related abilities to choose from. Barbed Shot is a basic ability that causes bleeding and enrages your pet. Certain abilities increase focus for you and your pet, Beast Cleave allows them to attack multiple times, and Murder of Crows summons multiple crows to kill.

The shot probably seems like a no-brainer, but it starts to branch out as soon as you get to the fifth row. In addition to the normal critical hit and multi-hit skills, you get explosive arrows, talents that can stop skill cooldowns, and some that give active buffs depending on how you use them, like constant focus that gives you speed. booster after using it twice.

Finally, the Survival specialization is a more aggressive variant of the Beast Mastery tree. He has some animal-enhancing abilities, but he also has some brutal talents like Harpoon, where you throw (surprise!) an enemy, pin them down, and shoot them. Eagle Fury is built into this tree at row 10, while other moves like Carve give you strong AoE attacks early on.

Hunters aren’t the only aspect of Dragonflight that has received an overhaul. Blizzard is introducing some features to help bring the creation up to date, and there might even be a new murloc.
