The release of a new series from the world of Resident Evil is rapidly approaching, which will be shown in our country with the subtitle Cure. Netflix released a new video on Thursday, offering new footage as well as a behind-the-scenes look. The filmmakers and cast spoke a little about the vision of the entire series.
Writer/executive producer Mary Lea Sutton said Resident Evil defined the genre, but this series is something new.
“There are a number of people who know everything about Resident Evil and the whole story, but we want to open it up to a new audience,” Sutton said. So it is clear that the creators are mainly focused on complete beginners, and not on avid fans of the series.
The expression of Lance Reddick, who plays Albert Wesker, is perhaps the most shocking. According to the actor, he is the best biochemist in the world, as well as a loving father. It is hardly possible to find a more distant characterization of the Wesker we know from the games.
Interestingly enough, actresses Tamara Smart and Ella Balinska play the same character, Wesker’s daughter Jade, but one in the past and the other in the present. According to them, they had to work closely together to harmonize with each other.
While the filmmakers aren’t targeting fans of the series with a plot, at least they’re in for easter eggs like medicinal plants. But there will also be many monsters that you can recognize from Resident Evil. In addition to zombies, there are, for example, slimes, dogs, spiders, and even the chainsaw man from Resident Evil 4 known as Dr. El Salvador.
And what should we expect the most? According to the authors, it’s great visuals and the already mentioned story, spanning two timelines, should offer plenty of twists and turns.
