If you love animation studio Ghibli and are a fan of Czech developers, then the game is for you. For two years, a small Czech studio Wekthor has been working on a pixelated fantasy RPG called Dragon’s Wandering Tavern that will take you to a mysterious forest full of wonders, cute characters, but also dark spirits.
The Kickstarter campaign will be available from Friday, which you can find at this link.. The goal is to collect 70 thousand dollars (almost 1.7 million crowns) and to get the version for the computer you only need to deposit 20 dollars, i.e. almost 500 crowns. The faster ones will also have an option for the Nintendo Switch.
The main role in this colorful 2D game is played by the dragon Dangoru, who was raised by a pair of raccoons. Just like them, he earns a living by trading, but at the same time he sometimes gets lost in thoughts about where he really comes from… And so he sets off on a journey with a magical backpack on his back, which can turn into a small pub. In it he feasts with his friends whom he meets along the way.
According to the creators, there is also a Czech influence in the game, and in it we will meet, for example, the lady Jag or the guard wolf named … Vlk. Inspiration from Japanese Studio Ghibli films can be seen in the photographs.
Dragon’s Wandering Tavern is meant to be basically a relaxing game, and according to the creators, they were inspired by, for example, the Animal Crossing series or games that don’t focus on combat in general. The surroundings of the forest are magically transformed every night, and your task will not only be to solve its problems and trade with secondary characters, but also to get food. For example, from living plants that you will have to persuade a little so that they give you, for example, their wood. According to preliminary plans, the game should be released next year.
