Another potential Nvidia RTX 4000 spec upgrade has surfaced, with the RTX 4090 being claimed to be 60% faster than the RTX 3090 in terms of base clock speed. The GPU giant’s next-best graphics card is also said to have a 50% higher clock speed, while the RTX 4080 may still use GDDR6X memory after all.
Another tweet revealing potential leaked RTX 4000 spec hardware save 7kimi indicates that the RTX 4090 could have a base clock of 2235 MHz, as well as a boost clock of 2520 MHz. Also, the tipster says that the “real maximum” speed of the GPU is 2750 MHz, which probably refers to the card game potential.
By comparison, the RTX 3090 has a base and boost clock of 1395 MHz and 1695 MHz, respectively. As such, it looks like the RTX 4090 will easily outperform Nvidia’s current-gen rival with speeds that match an overclocked RTX 3090 Ti out of the box.
Kopite7kimi’s latest update also revises previous RTX 4080 memory predictions, as GDDR6X is still on GPU cards. As with all RTX 4000 rumors and speculation, you should take this latest wave of information with a grain of salt, especially as the performance narrative for this line of gaming PCs is constantly changing.

Team Green has undoubtedly set its sights on the next-gen GPU crown, but its path to the throne may involve logistical issues. Nvidia apparently wants to phase out RTX 4090 chips in response to the market downturn, but an earlier $10bn deal with TSMC means the company could lose money anyway.
