An outside company with testers could be held responsible for bugs in Cyberpunk 2077, the analysis claims.

Many of those who launched Cyberpunk 2077 immediately after the release, faced with completely strange bugs. On the sidewalk I was stuck by passers-by who could not bypass the masterfully broken car. The enemy did not want to wait for the funeral and immediately after the execution fell to the ground. He didn’t complete the side quest. Despite the pluses, the game also contained many shortcomings, which were noticed mainly by the owners of the old generation consoles. The new analysis argues that the main culprit is an external company that was supposed to provide quality control (QA).

The under-testing was mentioned by developer CD Projekt Red last January, shortly after the game’s release. At the time, this claim was questionable, simply because it was easier to “throw it on the testers” than to let management take the wrong steps.

Analysis of 72 pages that fell into the hands of a YouTuber from the Upper Echelon Games channel, but this suggests there may be some truth to this. Although no one has yet officially confirmed the authenticity of the document, for example, according to journalist Paul Tassi from Forbes magazine. “The report is very detailed, containing names, production plans and a range of seemingly insider information.”

The focus is on Quantic Lab.which outwardly offers quality game testing and prides itself on working with games such as The Witcher 3, Vampyr or Divinity: Original Sin 2. The documentary, which was supposed to be presented by an unnamed Quantic Lab employee, mentions three main problems.

First, the company reportedly overestimated the size of the team assigned to Cyberpunk 2077 in order to keep the contract with Project Red CD. Secondly, she was initially promised that more senior testers would play the game, but in fact these were less experienced employees who often stayed with the company for less than six months. And third, Quantic Lab had to have a daily quota for the number of reported bugs, which resulted in sometimes pointless bugs being reported, which as a result delayed developers and distracted them from important issues.

If the documentary turns out to be true, and most of all the criticisms it mentions turn out to be true, it could give many gamers a glimpse behind the scenes of cyberpunk’s origins. It has brought a lot of benefits for many players sitting at powerful computers and having fun with only minor flaws. However, on consoles, the situation has gone so far that, for example, Sony has rarely temporarily removed a game from its store.

Also, as Paul Tassi points out, according to some sources from YouTuber Legacy Kill inside CD Project Red, the claims of this analysis are exaggerated. For example, one allegedly repeated an earlier version that the developers knew about a number of bugs in advance, but did not have time to finalize them, because they did not manage to meet the deadline set by the company.
