Fnatic and XSET close in on Valorant Champions with VCT wins

After an action-packed weekend of high-end Valorant gameplay, the entry list for VCT Masters Copenhagen is nearly complete. Now that all but the LATAM vs BR Playoffs event is over, the final Masters event of the year will feature a new group of contenders alongside a host of returning faces yearning for redemption.

In the West, Fnatic and XSET managed to break through Tier 1 boundaries by knocking out regional top dogs FunPlus Phoenix and OpTic Gaming, who not only qualified for the event, but also qualified for the Masters. For Fnatic, the introductions of Emir ‘Alfajer’ Beder and Enzo ‘Enzo’ Mestari have clearly injected some much needed firepower into the team. Meanwhile, the unmodified XSET roster could finally show its full potential. Both teams are preparing to take their place in this year’s VCT Champions.

Elsewhere in EMEA, Guild Esports managed to secure their third and final spot at the Copenhagen Masters in the region after beating Team Liquid over the weekend. This is the first time the UK-based organization has taken part in a Masters event.

While KRU Esports and Ninjas in Pijamas will be competing in the LATAM vs BR Playoffs, the main representatives for each region have already been determined. As Brazil’s LOUD returns once again to the Masters to prove he can compete against the best in the world, Leviathan beat KRU to earn a ticket to a Masters event for the first time.

In the east, Paper Rex and XERXIA will once again represent the APAC region in Copenhagen, joining Korean powerhouse DRX, which continues to dominate the local scene. In addition to Masters champion Reykjavik OpTic, all three teams have already earned Champions points.

Perhaps the biggest surprise of July’s event is Japan’s Northeption, who got their revenge on the ZETA DIVISION by being sent to the Lower Bracket Finals by Masters Reykjavik, similar to the XSET race. .

Needless to say, Masters Copenhagen will be quite the event and we would love to see the cast perform in front of a live audience for the first time.
