The best (and sometimes the worst) part of World of Warcraft is, without a doubt, the social aspect. While players of the popular MMORPG can have fun searching and exploring on their own, it’s even more satisfying when a friendly face or two get in on the action. However, there are other benefits to having friends, one of which is the long-standing practice of “promotion.” However, Blizzard is now looking to limit WoW’s power-ups with new changes.
The concept is simple. A friendly player connects with a high-level character, joins your low-level character, and lures all the cursed enemies throughout the low-level dungeon before defeating them all with a single AoE. Although the amount of XP is less than that of a peer group, some of these runs can significantly speed up the leveling process.
Unfortunately, there is also a seedier side. Anyone who has been to Stormwind or Orgrimmar knows that scammers selling gold for real money cost tens of cents, but dungeon upgrade services are no less common. Pay in-game gold to someone who works in an illegal agricultural warehouse and they will level you up. Most of the time, gold earned from dungeon boosters is sold to others for real money. On top of everything else, constant ads to improve chat performance are worse than a political discussion coming up on Trade Chat.
However, Blizzard has a solution. For the final major content release of Burning Crusade Classic and for future Wrath of the Lich King Classic dungeons, changes will be implemented that will make mobs in low-level dungeons more difficult to navigate without stopping, as well as reducing the group experience gained with a large gap. between player levels.
This isn’t the first time Blizzard has taken action to end the push: In January, it announced that large groups operating in multiple areas were violating WoW’s Terms of Service and would be banned. However, this decree did not apply to individual players and guilds, and thus most of these organizations, which use discord rather than in-game communication, were able to bypass these bans. This announcement is likely to be more effective, though the side effect would be to stop practice even between friendly guildmates.
