Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 GPU clock speed could approach 3.0 GHz

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 promises to be an absolute GPU monster, with new rumors claiming that the flagship RTX 4000 boasts significantly higher clock speeds than its predecessor. While the spec bump is pretty comprehensive when it comes to the new pixel boosters, that boost will be about 1.0 GHz higher than Team Green’s best graphics cards.

Information about the clock speeds of Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 is transmitted kopite7kimi. The leaker says that “reaching 2.8 GHz is easy, at least not terribly difficult” when it comes to the AD102 GPU that will likely power the higher-tier RTX 4000 card. Thus, the performance of the powerful pixel processor is barely 50% higher than that of the RTX 3090 Ti.

While it’s impossible to say exactly how much this will help improve the frame rates of top PC games compared to current-gen graphics cards, those higher clock speeds will certainly play a big part in improving performance. However, you will likely need to equip your gaming PC with one of the best power supplies on the market, as Nvidia RTX 4000 GPUs can be very power hungry.

We don’t yet know how competitive the RTX 4090 will be against AMD’s RDNA 3 graphics cards, but Nvidia may have already missed out on a potential lead for its upcoming GeForce GPUs. The RTX 4000 release may have been pushed back a bit, so maybe it’s closer to the Radeon 7000 release date than Team Green would have liked.
