This weekend, I completely immersed myself in the game Battlefield 2042. A few days ago, Season 1: Zero appeared in it, and with it, finally, a new map, a heroine, as well as a season pass. Simply put, a lot of news, which I didn’t really expect from this game. Whether the current content is a reason to return, I will outline in these brief impressions of the game.
Exposure map where mountains have eyes
Attacks from orbit can pleasantly rub the surface of the earth. What it might look like when something like this happens is shown in the Exposure map, which has mountains drilled into perhaps more than cheese after being attacked by a mouse. It was the general decrease in the mountain range that gave me the opportunity to look not only at the heights, but also at the correctly divided tunnels, where there was a struggle for every turn. I was delighted with the battles in them. For some time I made my way through the well-fortified lines, but then a tank drove up and helped my unit break through. Vehicles can do wonders here, too, but they’re not as big as on more open maps because there’s someone lurking around every corner who can sweeten them up with a rocket launcher.
It doesn’t even need to be hidden around the corner. New Specialist Technician Fox is a character representing a specialist against all types of vehicles. Her main weapon is a rocket launcher that she can control herself, so you need to keep an eye on her. However, it occurred to me personally that its missiles, for example, are not as effective against tanks as conventional missiles. You need to aim accurately, but they crush heavy equipment more strongly. However, I myself used Lisa’s rockets not only to destroy aircraft and transport workers. A sophisticated professional can overwhelm even snipers with them. You just shoot each other and then beautifully lead her to the hidden shooter.
I was delighted with the battles in the tunnels.
Newly added weapons and vehicles also slightly change the pace of the fight. However, at least in my opinion, their influence is not so extreme, and they can be unlocked fairly quickly by playing. Individual parts of the Season Pass are available through missions that motivate the player to achieve specific goals. I’m a little afraid that this won’t cause problems in the long run because some people are more focused on getting their orders done than playing themselves.
Season 1: Zero is a Reason to Come Back
Battlefield 2042 Season 1: Zero bleeds into the veins of a game that started off much like the invasion of Ukraine. The new Exposure map, built on the traditional foundations of the Battlefield series, another character and a few other innovations helps a lot and is at least a reason for me to give this shooter another try. As a player who only has the base game with no other items available for purchase, I have to say that I didn’t feel disadvantaged in Battlefield 2042 Season 1: Zero.
I got to the new Fox character specialist after a few hours of play, and the season pass form wasn’t very invasive either. Just a classic concept that works effectively at other times. If the creators didn’t make big changes in the future and come up with new content at all, I could imagine that Battlefield 2042 could eventually recover and become a full-fledged representative of this series.
