Blizzard first revealed Junker Queen’s abilities in Overwatch 2 during the FPS game’s PvP event in June, and it looks like Junker Queen is becoming more than just a tank. In a way, it’s exactly what you’d expect from a tank. Junker Queen uses a shotgun as his primary weapon and is described by Blizzard as an “aggressive tank” that takes the lead instead of staying behind the front lines like Reinhardt did.
This aggressive nature shows in his other weapons and abilities. For example, Junker Queen’s fast melee is a swift knife attack rather than a punch, and can deal damage to enemies if she hits. She can also use the knife as a secondary fire, and when she remembers the knife, whenever it hits, it brings the target closer to her.
Junker Queen’s finishing move is Rampage, where she creates a magnetic field that spins her weapon into a deadly whirlwind as she charges forward. Rampage deals a wound to any enemy it hits and, in addition to healing your party and dealing damage, adds an anti-heal debuff that negates any incoming healing received by wounded enemies.
Another Junker Queen ability is “Team Shout”, which increases the speed of the entire party.
In short, Junker Queen becomes a hybrid of all three roles, a solid health defender (425, at least in the demo video) that provides support and can also defend as a strong attacker. The debuff against healing and the team speed buff are the first things we’ve seen since Ana and Lucio, respectively, and it looks like Blizzard might start experimenting outside of the established roles in the original game.
The team has teased a new set of supporting characters that will be revealed shortly before Overwatch 2 goes into early access on October 4, and if Junker Queen and Zenyatta’s newfound success means anything, we’d be surprised if a newcomer doesn’t shake up the hype. support. also a paper.
If you want to see how Junker Queen plays sooner, sign up for Overwatch 2 Beta 2, which launches on June 28. She’s not the only playable hero, though, so she explores our Overwatch 2 tier list to find a hero worth trying out.
