You’ll be hard-pressed to find a best gaming laptop that uses an HDD as its primary storage solution, as most manufacturers have replaced them with better SSDs and relegated mechanical drives to optional expansion. However, it looks like hard drives will soon disappear from laptops altogether.
Search over 100 consumers and gaming laptop models on Dell, HP, and Lenovo websites in the United States, TechRadar Pro found that all three manufacturers had completely removed hard drives from their product lines. There are several reasons for this, according to the companies, including lack of demand and falling prices for eMMC and SSD storage.
Other major players in the consumer and gaming laptop market are likely to follow (if they haven’t already), and we can only see this as a boon to manufacturers and consumers alike. Fewer moving parts means fewer points of failure, and I’m sure we’d all love to see the other side of death.
