Oxenfree 2: Lost Signals, the sequel to the beloved mind-blowing adventure game Oxenfree, was rebroadcast at the Tribeca Games Showcase during Summer Game Fest. During the extended deep dive in Oxenfree 2, we see plenty of action familiar to those who played the original. However, we do learn more about the new characters and how radios play a time-dividing role in gameplay this time around.
In Oxenfree 2: Lost Signals, when you search for the correct frequency, your radio can open the portals in time, allowing the heroes Riley and Jacob to travel through an alternate timeline. While not exactly multidimensional and summoned by familiar radio rather than ancient magic, the orange glow from these portals gives us wonderful Doctor Strange vibes…
Unfortunately, despite all the great gameplay and deep dives from a few developers, we haven’t been treated to a tangible release date for Oxenfree 2.
After getting a release date from the PlayStation Database listing for Oxenfree 2, the game was reportedly released in February this year. However, the game is still not in the hands of the players and at the end of the Oxenfree 2 episode we just received a message saying “Coming soon”.
Although it was disappointing, Oxenfree 2: Lost Signals definitely stood out in the Tribeca showcase, with its unique art style and A Plague Tale Requiem and As Dusk Falls.
