The Nintendo Switch console hit the market in 2017 and quickly became a hit. With over 100 million units sold today, it is one of the best-selling consoles of all time. But while titles such as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey helped titles, there was another often-forgotten exclusivity. The party game 1-2-Switch was not very popular with both critics and players. However, Nintendo has reportedly decided to create a second installment that has been rumored for months. His announcement seemed about to fall, but Nintendo still didn’t come back with confirmation. And why? This is stated in a new article in Fanbyte magazine.
Journalist Imran Khan collected information about the game, which the developers allegedly called “Universal Switch 1-2”. This means that the second part is much more extensive and should work on the principle of Jackbox games such as Fibbage or Quiplash. So, some mini-games use mobile phones, which allows up to 100 players in one lobby. Individual mini-games must be represented by a horse or a man wearing a horse mask, and is referred to as “Horse” in the game, which should sound similar to “Guest”. After the mascot, the Japanese developers created the first mini-games and it was time for the playtest. Reaction? Definitely not positive.
Khan calls the feedback “brutal”. Nintendo wanted to draw attention to the title especially for families with children, but this group of players found the game boring during the test, some did not even play individual mini-games in their entirety. During localization into other languages, the game began to be called “crap”, referring to the main character and at the same time (not) the quality of the title.
As the article says, negative reviews are not uncommon, but they say that Everyone’s 1-2 Switch has happened to the point where Nintendo doesn’t know what to do with the title. While some sources said the game would come with a classic €60 price tag, according to Khan, others thought the Japanese company would release it as part of a Nintendo Switch Online subscription because they didn’t want to risk their reputation. Of course, there is also the possibility that the game will be kept in a drawer, Nintendo will accept the loss of money and never release it, but this is unlikely.
And who knows, maybe the developers will eventually be able to fix the name, and it will not be as bad as they are now talking about it.
Today from me the most secret secret in the world: Switch 1-2 for everyone. It was supposed to be released earlier this year, but the reviews have been so negative that some people at Nintendo fear that releasing it will damage their reputation.
Others really, really want that $60. https://t.co/2V2OgRvSDQ
