The mysterious title Abandoned has undoubtedly become one of the most talked about games in the last year, although we only saw one trailer and teaser at a time. The players were most interested in the connection with Silent Hill, which the developers themselves pointed out at the beginning, although they later denied this again. And the team behind the game is another big mystery. Nobody knows anything about the Blue Box, we only know Hasan Kahraman who is the only one who introduces himself to the public. But while this mystery initially aroused the interest of the players and various crazy theories arose, gradually it began to annoy the fans when we did not receive any new information.
The title has been constantly delayed and somewhat noisy, although Kahraman speaks up again from time to time, mostly only to delay the game again. But now GameSpot magazine has arrived, which has exclusive information from sources close to Kahraman and explained what the game is like.
The origin of the information is quite interesting as it comes from members of a small Discord group that Kahraman created. At first, it included people whom the developer allegedly chose himself after “research”, but over time, the group changed its appearance. The participants had to leave or were expelled by Kahraman himself, mainly because they did not agree with him or had doubts about the game as such. However, Kahraman later didn’t even want to kick the members because he was afraid that he would publish the exclusive content he had shared on the server. Individuals in the group even had to sign an NDA, which, according to GameSpot, is written very vaguely and without knowledge of legal language, even contains rough edges.
As for Abandoned, according to the participants, the game is not being created at all. Kahraman had to admit this on the server, although he publicly claims otherwise. However, it’s still worth creating a playable prologue to help fund the entire project. However, some members of the group quickly began to doubt that Kahraman spent most of his time writing on the server or playing other games. Moreover, the concept of Abandoned was constantly changing, probably depending on what the fans thought. When it came to Silent Hill, Kahraman started making allusions to this famous horror series on social media, when it came to Metal Gear, he re-released the picture with the character wearing a blindfold and completely changed the story.
But what is even more amazing is that the developer had to constantly throw mud at him. When the revelation of Abandoned was delayed, Kahraman blamed the collaborating teams, for example, he called the well-known studio Nuare “scammers”. He allegedly used similar terms for moderator Geoff Keighley or the host of the Future Games Show.
Moreover, Kahraman created completely absurd situations. For example, one participant should be offered to pay $1,500 to keep physical copies of Abandoned in the US. He even sent a contract, but canceled it a few days later.
To put it simply, Hassan Kahraman doesn’t seem to have much of an idea of what game development looks like and is probably betting on interesting marketing that can’t last forever. Let’s see if he comments on the article at least on social networks. He was directly approached by GameSpot magazine, but Kahraman declined to comment and a Sony representative did not respond at all.
