Protecting electronics from power surges and power outages is something players and regular users often overlook. Sometimes you pay hundreds of thousands of crowns for these things. Then just one annoying event and you can go shopping from scratch. Eaton offers a low cost solution with surge protection and redundant power supply.

A gaming computer for tens of thousands, an expensive TV and a set-top box that you got lucky after a year of waiting. Do you protect these precious items from power surges and blackouts? You should, because preventing the destruction of these expensive electronics is an order of magnitude cheaper than buying new hardware. Fortunately, Eaton has a number of solutions. We will introduce a few of them and start with the smallest one.

The Eaton 3S Mini is a tiny backup power supply that replaces the power cord found on a router or security camera, for example. In the event of a power failure, the connected device will be given a few minutes to survive the situation or shut down safely.

The great thing about the Eaton 3S Mini is its small size and the fact that you replace the original cable in this UPS. This is not an additional cable that would get tangled up somewhere.

There are several terminals included and you can connect anything from an old router to a smart voice assistant. You will decide. If you choose a connection such as a Wi-Fi router, you will avoid a long reboot of the device during a momentary power failure. In other cases, you can safely turn off the electronics and, if necessary, remove the necessary items. When a security camera is connected, the space will remain recorded despite a power outage, which can be a targeted attack.

The larger model is the Eaton 3S 850 with eight sockets. All of them protect your device with surge protection. Half of them are then connected to a battery capable of supplying energy to connected appliances even after a power outage.

You can connect a computer, console, or just about any device you want to secure. In the event of a power outage, the Eaton 3S 850 gives you enough time to complete the job or levels in the game and finish the job safely. The last thing you want is to waste time and redo unsaved work.

Smaller accessories can also be connected using a pair of USB ports, which are also redundant and thus work even in the event of a power failure. Plus, the Eaton 3S 850 indicates its status with an LED, so you always know you’re ready for the unexpected.

More demanding users can find, for example, the Eaton Ellipse PRO 1200. This is a redundant power supply with a maximum load of 1200 VA or 750 W. Again, it has eight surge outlets, half of which are battery backed up. In addition, this redundant power supply protects your LAN with Ethernet ports.

With the Eaton Ellipse PRO 1200, you will not only protect your devices, but also save money. The source has the EcoControl function. It disables certain devices when the main one goes down. Practical example? Maybe turn off the monitor when you don’t have your computer turned on.

However, the biggest advantage of this model is the fact that it is a smart device with a display where you can quickly check the battery status and power consumption. You can then connect the Ellipse to your computer using USB and configure, for example, the behavior of individual connectors.

Backup resources are a very underrated commodity that can save your gaming machine and any other electronics. A one-time investment not only avoids many problems, but also saves money.
