Summer Game Fest is right around the corner, and as the excitement builds we get little teasers of what we got from Geoff Keighley. As you’d expect, the masterminds behind the gaming craze are tight-lipped about what games we’ll see, but that’s not stopping some news from coming out.
On the inside Q&A on Twitter SpacesFirst, Keighley suggests that this year’s Summer Game Fest showcase on June 9 will continue with a run similar to last year’s. Of course, the 2021 showcase featuring Elden Ring lasted an hour and 45 minutes, while this year’s will apparently be “less than two hours.” Keighley says that even with just days to go before the event, the schedule isn’t 100% set – a game that was supposed to air was pulled from the show from Friday May 27 due to a delay of development – so times may vary slightly. fluctuation if more changes.
As well as discussing some similar points raised in another Twitter space he hosted last week – like how hard it would be to live up to the hype of last year’s Elden Ring game – Keighley also hints that ‘there will be an element of it. showcase of the year that we had not seen the last time.
The Summer Game Fest 2022 showcase will feature “really cool straight gameplay footage or demos” – something, according to Keighley, often forms the basis of the showcases you’ll see at E3 and it’s something that’s “missing. from there.
“We have a few” [of games] we do five minutes plus game footage [for] I think people are going to love it, and it’s literally a raw game,” says Keighley. “It’s not super-crafted, but I hope you can sit back and say, ‘That’s great, that’s how this game is played.
Keighley is excited to introduce select games extensively to Summer Game Fest audiences. As for which games on the show will take those longer slots, your guess is as good as ours.
