Simply put, the Sniper Elite 5 not only met my expectations, but far exceeded them. What I thought would be fun for a few hours at most quickly became a phenomenal distraction that I couldn’t ask for more. Whether I was facing the enemy with a gun in my hand, trying to be the perfect sniper, or completing side quests or main objectives, I had fun.

In many ways, Sniper Elite 5 is actually Sniper Elite 4, with a few new drives and a new GUI, which makes me happy. Except that the old kill cam craze is completely gone, most of the gameplay still looks fresh. Sneaking and shooting is still just as enjoyable, and the large, open levels give you enough freedom to tackle each target the way you want. Sniper Elite 5 gives players the tools they need to feel like an elite sniper, using superior tactics and stealth to take down a gang of Nazis.

Invisible obstacles sometimes interfere with immersion, and artificial intelligence can be too capricious, as it fluctuates between ability and incompetence. Even the main character is not entirely interesting, but all these shortcomings are not so crushing as to negate the joy of shooting the Nazis in the face from a distance of 300 meters. When it comes to ranged combat, the Sniper Elite 5 dominates the craft.

Sniper Elite 5 features fun and a high level of tactical challenge that lives up to the player’s commitment. This is a game that lives up to everything it aims to offer and doubles that experience with great sniper mechanics, weapon mods and beautiful environments. The game can be overly difficult in some areas and the occasional AI bugs can hurt immersion, but as a result, it’s still the best part of the series.
