In a lengthy document describing his work on video games, Sony announced sales for his titles computer, including the revenues they have generated so far. The company expects strong growth for this segment, so much so that it can speak of “exponential growth” to be sustained beyond fiscal 2022, which just ended (closed on March 31, 2022).
But we see the data:
- Horizon Zero Dawn – 2,398 million copies sold – $60 million revenue – launch date 7 August 2020
- Days Gone – 852,000 copies sold – $22.7 million revenue – launch date May 18, 2021
- God of War – sold 971,000 copies – $26.2 million revenue – launch date January 14, 2022
Growth total revenue PC business year over year: From $35 million in fiscal 2020 to $80 million in 2021 and $300 million in 2022. In short, we are talking about a segment that is obviously growing rapidly.
Therefore, it is clear why Sony has increased its investment in PC. development of the proposalas shown in the next graph of the same document showing the growth volumes of the various platforms the company is active in.
It is interesting to note that Sony expects decisive growth in the mobile and PC sectors by fiscal year 2025, which will join the PS5 permanently. The difference in business diversity can be seen with the naked eye by comparing the chart for fiscal year 2025 (also fiscal year 2022) to fiscal year 2019, which is practically a monochrome PS4.
