A new game from Spiders is slowly approaching and the developers have decided to introduce the protagonist of this upcoming RPG in more detail via the PlayStation Blog. It is called the Aegis and is an automaton originally designed as a dancer. However, due to circumstances, he becomes the last hope of the revolution and goes to fight against the huge superiority of the robots of the mad King Louis XVI.
Basic information:
- Status: Automatic
- Date of creation: 1789. The exact date is unknown.
- Height: 175 cm
- Types of weapons: 9
- Creator: Eugene de Vaucanson
- Previous occupation: court dancer
- Current professions: Warriors and the last hopes of the revolution
The developers on the blog revealed that they wanted the automaton to be the main character before they decided to set it up in the 18th century. However, initially the main character was supposed to be called Ada. One as a kind of allusion to creation (Adam) and at the same time as a tribute to the first programmer, Ada Lovelace. In the end, however, they settled on the name Aegis, which in turn came across the name of the shield of the goddess Athena.
In terms of appearance, the authors were inspired by different dolls. But being an Aegis dancer is no coincidence. It’s also because of the gameplay. Spiders wanted to create a soul-like game with a fast and vertical combat system. Being an Aegis machine is also an important aspect. According to them, developers can easily implement improvements during the game. The main character will learn, for example, a hook-cat.
Finally, the authors also showed the character editor, which already belongs to the RPG genre. You can see it below.
The spiders also promise that there are many more secrets about the Aegis that we will learn during the game.
Steelrising releases September 8 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S.
