If we’re going to minimize a video game while at the same time trivialize the conversation a lot, we could say it’s a set of input and feedback. The screen shows us an image, we press the keys in response and the image changes. At this point we get new information, press the keys again and we are in a loop. The game is fun if the process is fast and varied enough.
Obviously, there is much (many) more about video games, but not always. Sometimes a game is just that: a simple goal, a set of inputs, and a visual response in a very (very) fast loop. While not exhaustive, we just described the DOOM-like shooter Warstride Challenges. Dream Supported Games.
Available in Early Access, this new FPS aims to satisfy shooter fans’ cravings for speed and violence. Let’s see if I’m on the right track for now, it’s ours Tried outside of Warstride Challenges.
in the middle of the action
Warstride Challenges has a very clear goal: to get us to play with mouse and keyboard in no time. The game is divided into one level seriestake turns, and each time the goal is to get to the exit as quickly as possible. To do this, you must also eliminate every enemy, otherwise the final door will not open.
the focus is there speed, as stated earlier. Our character doesn’t have to run, he has to jump and throw himself from side to side, almost by jumping. Jumps actually increase our speed and push us forward rather than higher. They also make aiming difficult, so you need to be precise with every move.
The goal is not just to finish the level, but to do it in the best way possible. Each task takes no more than a few tens of seconds. The first level can be easily completed in less than two seconds. about to obtain record timesHowever, it takes practice and you need to learn exactly where each enemy is so you’re ready to take them down in a corner. Therefore, the longevity of Warstride Challenges is a result of one’s desire to both compete with friends or world rankings and improve the outcome of unlocking new content.
Some level types only require you to have reached a certain level. number of medals (bronze, silver, gold, platinum), but there are certain difficulties, not counting bronzes. Warstride Challenges is a game where the minimum performance is not enough and needs to be constantly improved. If you’re a sniper aficionado, we’re sure you’ll quickly get stuck in this cycle of trials as you search for the best time, occasionally stealing a few tenths of a second.
Levels and variants
Warstride Challenges also tries to change cards from time to time. First of all, more at each level difficulty (only some of them are available for now, we’re still in Early Access, remember that). These keep the overall structure of the level, but change things like enemies, weapons, and some contextual elements like explosive barrels. In some cases, the levels become almost mini puzzles and require not only reaction times, but also a glance to see how to properly eliminate certain enemies.
Then there BFL, regions consisting of single completed levels connected sequentially one after the other. In addition, there are arenas, challenges that only ask you to eliminate a certain number of enemies without having to reach a certain exit point.
Diversity is coming too tools at our command. Basically we will only have one pistol, but soon we will also unlock other weapons such as shotguns and carbines. Each weapon has its strengths and weaknesses and we will need to use them properly. In addition, there are special powers that allow you to gain a small advantage, such as slow motion: even then, you need to understand what is the best time to take advantage of it. The toolset – weapons and powers – are defined by the game, so a player doesn’t risk getting stuck trying to get through certain areas without the right tools.
early access
We repeat. Warstride Challenges is currently in Early Access, but table of contents already very important. There are 24 levels, each with different difficulties. There is no shortage of interesting functions such as bonus levels, eight BFLs, five weapons, various powers, and choosing up to three “enemies” or choosing a player (friend or found in the classic world). be able to study the ghost and its movements within the levels and compete against it indirectly.
Warstride Challenges also offers an editor where we can. create custom levels to share. However, it is an ingredient that is still immature, irritating in the controls, and has limited options. More importantly, the search system for levels created by other players claims to know the name of the level. If not, you have to settle for a list of random levels, let’s say the most recent levels created by the community. The editor is a very interesting component: if the team can expand everything correctly with subsequent updates, this can make the game almost endless.
Even if you don’t mind the editor, know that it will be introduced in the next updates. new levels, enemies, weapons, powers and not just. My impression is that there is still a lot to discover in Warstride Challenges.
Finally, we state that graphicallyOn a technical level, the game is already solid and you don’t have to worry. Stylistically, we are facing another game consisting of hellish vaults with very generic demonic monsters, but in this case the graphics are just a background. Visually, the action is always crystal clear, even at insane speeds, and that’s enough and more.
SYMPTOMS
- The classic “try one more time and I swear I’ll stop” effect
- Early Access already has a lot of content
- The editor is an interesting idea, but requires a lot of work
- graphical derivative
