A few days ago, we wrote that the Frogwares studio is still in big trouble due to the war in Ukraine, but received a grant from Epic Games. Back then, game developers like Sherlock Holmes Chapter One or The Sinking City were tempting us to work on another project. And they officially announced it on Thursday. They provided all the information on social networks. And while we don’t know the details yet, Frogwares promises to provide them soon.
The Ukrainian team’s new project, codenamed Palyanitsa, is set to be a horror and mystery experience that is said to delight fans of previous games. Frogwares says they originally planned to create another game, but in the current situation they just had to do something smaller. However, they are confident that they will be able to complete this game even in extreme conditions.
“As an independent studio, we must always balance our resources to complete our games. But the war has put many obstacles in the way of us and our well-established processes. Continuous communication and iteration between our teams is harder to maintain, so we need a project where employees can have more autonomy. Roles and responsibilities are changing to fill the gap between those who seek combat or humanitarian assistance.” This is stated, in particular, in the statement.
The developers also promise that if there is interest, they will show the fans how they live and work in the current conditions.
The war continues. And so are we. A new game is in development. A new story is being told.
