Jamaggedon 2022, the biggest gaming jam created by ESNE, comes to an end

ESNE university school, Jamaggedon 2022an enormous game jam taking place On the 1st, 2nd and 3rd of AprilOur 14-17 year olds who want to try the feeling of joining a jam were presented in the competition, which included more than 30 video game projects that are helping ESNE students, outside creators and new generations.

With over 10 years of history, ESNE is a solid pool of industry professionals.WHAT’S THISis a solid pool of industry professionals with over a decade of history already successful in game and software development studios and across all kinds of platforms. However, they have all passed the official Degree in Design and development of video games and virtual environments, and of course, they test the tension, emotion and satisfaction of the jams. If you can’t be found, we have to say that there is a short development competition from a few days to a few hours. Additionally, a particular theme is usually flagged that presents limitations or restrictions to the creators. Everything has its own Jamaggedon 2022 It has been a reflection of this as it has opened up to all kinds of projects.

First he relied on the already classic game hamwas open to the public for all teams, couples or individuals. This method implied that the development could only be carried out over the three days of the entire event, and mind you, it was supposed to focus on one genre: arcade. The winner of this category was Trip to Kebadus-37, a hit ’em up solo created by Íker Díaz, a kind of acid techno that leaves no one indifferent. The second winner was Jose Antonio Reyes’ Traffic Jam, and it single-handedly conjured – we say it with all our love – the nightmare of a traffic management game “based on the M30”.

One of the categories was creating an arcade game in just three days.Second category focused Long-Term Gamesand here they could only participate ESNE students, both undergraduate and training cycles, and the projects presented were their own graduation projects that they worked on throughout this course. Here the theme and limitations were already broader as expected. The winners in this space were Teezio and members of Fifth Sun’s creative team SadPug, a beautiful beat ’em up with soul-like (and Aztec) inspiration; that is, a very solid game with all the challenges ahead! In second place was G!RO from Negone, several developers who created a highly addictive arcade focused on the premise of attacking to escape.

third category, Jamcraft Jr.focused on creating experiences created with Minecraft and asked participants to design their ideal university (with the educational version of the Mojang game). The two winners, Mario Hernán and Paula Yustas (first and second place), created two universities with an environment and architectural concepts that led to video games being believed to be a solid teaching tool.

Minecraft became one of the heroes of the eventFinally, WHAT’S THIS He proposed an additional category to cover all projects presented on both JamOn and Long Term, making three very special projects stand out. The first of these is Strait’s Pirate, which stands out with its simple but effective gameplay. Jordiea99’s game suggests we escape the police with perfect control in our speedboat… and it’s addicting.

Then there is the audience award given to the Bloodmask team, a group of developers with a passion for horror games. Live encourages us to explore a mansion while we stream everything on Twitch, solve puzzles, and get chased by some pretty bad property. Finally, everyone was hooked on Aki Maku and the brilliant platform puzzle game approach (something very hard to balance) that focuses on Aki Maku and the use of a small stick or torch that seems to have a life of its own. GranJ and Gerard Nadal’s game is designed between WoW raids, pizzas and… “cokes” and the result is excellent: very stimulating, attractive to look at and, in short, well worth playing. We look forward to more levels!

Soak up the Spanish independent scene with an event like Jamaggedon 2022 It is one of the best ways to remember that creativity and knowledge are part of who we are and something worth supporting, whether in the form of grants or purely media attention. Next year, we hope to join ESNE and its pool of future video game and software professionals so actively.
