Call of Duty Vanguard Rated Play is now live after a slight delay after Treyarch discovered a “stat cracking issue” with the WWII shooter’s competitive mode. Since the studio didn’t give a time frame on how long the fix would take, many feared that the highly anticipated ranked mode would be delayed by days or even weeks. That said, Treyarch moved quickly to make things right, and now competitive CoD fans can battle and play like the Call of Duty League pros.
Treyarch not only confirms that the leaderboard is live, but also gives players warnings about how their gear is crafted. Since ranked play uses CDL rules, many weapons, add-ons, and gear considered non-competitive are prohibited. Currently, the Create Class menu doesn’t show you which of your classes have restricted items and which are allowed – you won’t know until you progress. However, Treyarch says this will be fixed in the next ranked game update.
Treyarch has confirmed that in addition to the items restricted in the CDL rules, a number of other gear items will also be prohibited, including weapons such as the BAR, PPSh-41 and the new assault rifle from season 2, the KG M40.
Treyarch also seems to have learned a valuable lesson from last year’s League Play ranked mode in Black Ops Cold War; where newly added weapons are eligible for ranked play and then retroactively banned. This meant that weapons like the LC10 submachine gun had been mutinous for some time.

Now, however, new weapons, perks, and gear will be “evaluated on a case-by-case basis for qualifying play and only offered if deemed competitive and used in the CDL.” This should lead to a consistent and stable goal.
This new and improved ranking experience seems to keep things simple and bring the gameplay as close to CDL as possible, which should be appreciated by competitive players.
