So far it seemed like a new chapter mass effect will focus on an entirely new story. But as it turns out, Commander Shepard (or Commander Shepard) might be back. This is not outright speculation, but speculation based on the official description of the physical lithograph of the N7 Day poster sold by BioWare.
“Shepard’s latest expedition may have ended the Reaper threat, but at great cost, including Earth itself. While Shepard and the survivors must come together, fans are asking what’s next.”

This was the original label. When players noticed him, the company corrected him and removed the mention of Shepard.
The return of the protagonist is also recorded in the lithograph itself, where we probably see Shepard with his team next year, which is reminiscent of Normandy.
However, Commander Shepard’s fate remained somewhat open at the end of Mass Effect 3, and BioWare has yet to explicitly confirm if he will return. Perhaps this part of the description was a mistake, at worst a massive spoiler revealed too soon.
